1. Who we are
Speakest is operated by Speakest Ltd, UK-registered. Email privacy@speakest.app for privacy questions. For UK GDPR purposes, we are the data controller.
2. Data we collect
Account information
Email, hashed password, optional display name. Stored in Supabase (EU-hosted).
Voice and speech data
Your voice is transcribed locally in your browser using the Web Speech API. Audio never leaves your device. Transcripts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API only when you trigger analysis or a journal summary, and aren't retained there for training.
Session metadata
Scores, word counts, duration, timestamps stored so your dashboard works.
Journal transcripts
If you opt to save a session as a journal entry, the transcript is stored server-side so daily summaries work across devices.
Payment information
Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see your card details.
3. How we use your data
- Provide the core service
- Maintain your account and subscription
- Process payments via Stripe
- Send transactional emails
- Enforce usage limits and detect abuse
We do not train AI on your data, sell to third parties, or use it for advertising.
4. Third parties
- Supabase — auth and database (EU)
- Anthropic — Claude API for analysis (transcripts only when triggered; not retained for training)
- Stripe — payments
- Vercel — hosting and CDN
5. Your rights
Under UK/EU law, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, withdraw consent, and data portability. Use your account settings or email privacy@speakest.app. Complaints: ico.org.uk.
6. Retention
- Account data — life of account, plus 30 days after deletion
- Payment records — 7 years (UK tax law)
- Usage logs — 90 days, then anonymized
- Journal transcripts — until you delete them or close your account
